A2IF Youth Hackathon #1: AI Drone Detection Challenge

We are thrilled to be hosting the first of a 4-part series of Hackathons from March 1st, 2026 to March 29th, 2026. Our challenges are geared towards students in Grades 7–12.
The theme of this quarter’s hackathon is Drone Detection. Participants can choose between a Technical Challenge or a Creative Challenge.
Technical Challenge
This challenge involves writing a program focused on drone detection. Projects must be submitted digitally.
- Submission Due: Wednesday, March 25th, 2026 at 11:59 PM
- Exact rules and rubric released Sunday, March 1st, 2026
- Tiered challenges — beginner friendly with opportunities to earn points at every level
Creative Challenge
This challenge focuses on creativity, design, and interaction. Participants will create an interactive digital project inspired by the theme “Reimagining the Drone.” Submissions should present an original interpretation of drones through user experience, visuals, mechanics, or storytelling. Projects must be submitted digitally.
